My dad's colleague had an encounter with extraterrestrials in the 90's.
Part of my childhood was spent in the Mojave Desert in Southern California. This was way before it became cool and trendy or a "second" Los Angeles like it is known today. Back then it was sparsely populated and at one point known as the methamphetamine capital of the world, scary right? My dad works in criminal law, so I guess it was great location for that. Also, it was a place that I grew to love nature. The desert has a rugged beauty that is uniquely its own. So, my dad had a colleague that was invited to a contact convention in the high desert where extraterrestrials are supposedly contacted. She laughed it off at the time, but agreed to go strictly out of curiosity, she definitely was not a believer in the supernatural or paranormal at the time. Part way through the convention the group was introduced to extraterrestrials from different planets. They would each introduce themselves and say what their names were and what planet they were from, etc. My dad's colleague couldn't help but laugh out loud at how ludicrous the whole situation was. They looked exactly like us she thought, she didn't believe that they were really extraterrestrials. Towards the end of the convention, she took photographs with the so-called extraterrestrials with the group and by themselves. This was before digital cameras were popular, so it was all photographed with a film camera. She had the photos developed later and to her confusion, none of the photos with the so-called extraterrestrials showed up properly. Everyone else was in the photos, but where the extraterrestrials were, there were empty spaces. In every single photo. Not one of the extraterrestrials showed up on film. She became a believer after this as she couldn't explain the gaps in the photos where she had photographed these beings personally and there was no way they could have just disappeared.
