My first-hand experience at Waverly Hills Sanatorium

It was November of 2021 when my sister and I decided to go on an overnight ghost investigation at the Waverly Hills Sanatorium.

I was still a new Kentucky transplant at the time, having only recently moved to the blue grass state.  I had heard of Waverly Hills from ghost hunting shows that I had watched in the past and was excited to check it out for myself to see whether it was legitimately haunted or not.  I excitedly purchased our ghost tour tickets only to realize that the normal tours were all sold out, and the only available tours were an overnight six-hour investigation from midnight until six a.m.  Being from out of state I had no idea how popular these tours were and that they booked out months in advance.  Still, we decided to do it, and I went ahead and booked our tour which had now turned into a full-blown investigation.  It was the day after Thanksgiving that our adventure into the unknown began.  We both drank energy drinks on the drive there to make sure that we had plenty of caffeine to keep us awake for the night.  For those of you that don't know about Waverly Hills, it was at one time a hospital used to treat Tuberculosis patients; it has been used for other purposes as well, but this is what it is primarily known for.  It is said to be one of the most haunted former hospitals in the eastern United States.  When we arrived, they took us on a brief history tour of the building and rumored resident ghosts.  I had been on other ghost tours in the past, but nothing like this before which was more comparable to a professional investigation, more like what you would see on television if you were watching paranormal investigators.  At one point we all split off either into smaller groups or solo to do our own investigations.  This was also the first time that I had seen EVP used in real life, electronic voice phenomenon.  Basically, it's a radio with white noise that spirits can communicate through if they want to.  It was in this room that I had a supernatural encounter that I wasn't expecting or initiating, I was only observing.  I felt a presence walk up to me and pat me on the head three times and telepathically tell me, "I don't know who you are, but you are very beautiful."  Now I'm an open-minded person, but I was still shocked that I experienced this.  The voice was clear as a bell, masculine and a lot taller than me, I'm five foot eight flat footed and I'd estimate this presence was at least eight inches taller than me the way I felt them walk up to me and pat my head, so around about six-foot three.  I did not respond back as I didn't want to invite anything to follow me or anything else weirder than what I'd just experienced.  I also had taken photographs the whole night without a flash as we were discouraged from using flashlights or any light sources at all so our eyes could adjust to the dark.  It wasn't as scary or dangerous as it sounded because the lighting from the moon (which was more than half full at the time) helped us to see.  It was only later when I uploaded my photographs at home that I noticed I had indeed photographed some spirits.  Also, I may have been followed home by a spirit anyhow because I had several times that I woke up at three a.m. to hear the song "take me out to the ballgame" being sung, again very clear, distinct and masculine.  It didn't scare me, I just thought it was weird, and I knew it had to be connected to Waverly Hills because that didn't happen to me before visiting there.  I 100% believe that Waverly Hills is haunted, and I would say be careful and cautious if you decide to go there and experience it for yourself, you might be surprised by a ghostly encounter.
