Camping trip gone wrong

Back in the summer of 2009, my family took a road trip to Mammoth Cave National Park in Kentucky.

It was supposed to be a fun part of our family summer vacation road trip, with several different stopping destinations planned on the drive from California to Louisiana.  On the day we arrived at the campsite it was late, so we set-up our tents for the night as we were exhausted from being on the road all day.  My sisters and I slept in one tent, my parents in another and my brother in his own.  My brother made sure to put his tent the farthest from all of ours being a rebellious teenager at the time.  About 3 a.m. my mum woke up to my brother screaming at the top of his lungs in a high shrill like he was in danger.  Of course, being a mum, she shot straight up out of her sleep and ran to check on my brother in a panic.  My brother swore that all night there had been a large man circling his tent, while my brother pretended to be asleep.  The man had a foul and strange odor and also was throwing rocks at his tent, the whole night.  My brother was so scared and being only fourteen years old at the time, pretended to be asleep because I guess he thought whoever it was would leave him alone when they realized he was sleeping.  That didn't happen.  At one point the man grabbed my brother through his tent and picked up his tent in the process, and that is when my brother started screaming.  For years we thought it must have been a haunting or ghost since there weren't any other campers in the area at the time and that area does have Native American history.  It wasn't until years later that we heard about bigfoot in the area and made the connection with my brother's experience.
